Free Summer Activites in Memphis

With the economic crisis, everyone is looking for ways to stay entertained without paying a lot of money. Here are a few ideas to stay busy in Memphis without breaking the bank:


Brooks Museum: “Pay What You Can Wednesdays”- On Wednesdays, you set your own admission fee. You decide what you want to pay, from a penny to any dollar amount.

Lichterman Nature Center: Free on Tuesdays from 1:00 until 4:00

Memphis Botanic Garden: Free on Wednesdays from noon until 6:00

Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum: Free on Tuesdays from 2:00-7:00 for Shelby County Residents

Memphis Zoo: Free on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 5:00

Mud Island: Free admission onto the grounds between Memorial Day and Labor Day

National Civil Rights Museum: Free admission on Mondays from 3:00 to 5:00

The Peabody Hotel: Watch the famous ducks march every day at 11:00AM and 5:00 PM

The Pink Palace Museum: Free on Tuesdays from 1:00 until 5:00

Shelby Farms: Visit the largest urban park in the US and take a walk, have a picnic, or visit the bison range

University of Memphis Art Museum: Free admission Monday-Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM
